I went to one of my favourite places recently. ..just wish it was closer...

Bird Kingdom in Niagara Falls.

What a long tail!

they even had a bat display
Indian Flying Fox Bat

the MAIN AVIARY
- with a 40 Foot waterfall!
Almost 400 birds representing nearly 80 species from around the world
- all freely flying about.

50,000 sq. feet of tropical rainforest ....

they had a separate enclosure where you could feed the Lorikeets

just don't tell Kiwi ;)

A 125-year-old nobleman's house from the island of Java.
This entirely hand carved, solid teak, authentic Javanese House
 - constructed without nails .
It is the only one of it's kind in all of North America.
The front door (as it did on the island of Java) faces south,
the symbolic direction of the sea.

gorgeous interior walls and ceiling

the story behind it

stunning detail carvings

look at those feathers!

this one got really close to me

gorgeous

Wishing Bird Kingdom was a wee bit closer...
I will certainly be going back!

After Bird Kingdom we drove further down river to a scenic lookout

... there's people down there....

 can you spot them?

there they are!

doing the river walk... would love to do that ...
but maybe with a life jacket on...

Niagara Falls and Niagara on the Lake - beautiful!

There wasn't enough time for everything...
Next time we'll go on the gondola that crosses the river

and of course go back and visit the birdies :)
